A Stalker/Ministra portal recognises the device by its MAC address. DringTV presents itself to the portal as a MAG-type box, using the MAC address you enter: the one registered on the portal for your access. Add the portal address and that MAC in Settings → Playlists → Add a playlist → Stalker (beta): live TV, movies, series, programme guide and catch-up when the portal allows it. DringTV neither creates nor provides any MAC address.
Key points
- Two details: the portal address and the MAC address registered for your access (often in 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX form).
- DringTV announces itself to the portal as a MAG-compatible box, with a stable identity derived from that MAC.
- Live TV, movies, series, guide, catch-up and timeshift when the portal exposes them; username and password supported if the portal requires them.
- A MAC is usually active on only one device at a time: switch off the original box.
Why a Stalker portal depends on a MAC address
Infomir’s MAG boxes and Ministra platforms (formerly Stalker Middleware) work through a portal: at start-up, the box connects to the portal address and identifies itself by its MAC address. Your access is registered against that MAC, not against a username and password as with Xtream Codes.
To use the same access somewhere other than the box, you need an app that speaks the portal protocol and presents itself with the registered MAC address. That is what DringTV does.
What DringTV does, exactly
- It presents itself to the portal as a MAG-compatible box, with the MAC address you entered; the serial number and device identifier sent to the portal are derived from that MAC and stay the same from one session to the next.
- It accepts the MAC typed freely (dashes, lower case, no separators) and normalises it to AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF.
- It automatically tries the usual portal paths (/c/, portal.php, stalker_portal) from the address you entered.
- If the portal asks for additional authentication, it uses the optional username and password you filled in.
- Each playback asks the portal for a temporary link, for live TV as well as movies, series, catch-up and timeshift.
Moving from the box to the app
- Note the portal address and the MAC address registered for your access (the MAC is usually on the box label or in its settings; the portal address, in the details provided by your server).
- In DringTV, open Settings → Playlists → Add a playlist → Stalker.
- Enter the portal address, then the MAC address; add a username and password only if your server provides them.
- On a TV, prefer adding by QR code: you type the MAC on your phone keyboard.
- Switch off the original box if it uses the same MAC on the same portal.
Which devices
Stalker portals are supported in every published version of DringTV: Android and Android TV/Google TV, Fire TV (official APK), iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac and Windows. Stalker support is still marked “beta” in the app.
Common questions
Can I use my box’s MAC in DringTV?
If the access registered on that MAC is yours, yes: enter it in DringTV. Most portals accept only one session at a time per MAC; switch the box off in that case.
Can DringTV give me a MAC address?
No. The MAC address is registered by your server for your access; DringTV neither generates nor provides one.
What about Formuler boxes?
The principle is the same: a portal and a registered MAC address. If your Formuler access relies on a Stalker/Ministra portal, DringTV connects to it the same way.
Do the programme guide and catch-up work?
Yes, the guide comes from the portal, and catch-up is offered on channels for which the portal declares an archive.
